Abstract: Critical phenomena in liquids have been assessed. An extended equation of state in the scaling theory of critical phenomena is used to describe properties of a liquid in a large neighborhood of the critical point. A method is proposed for establishing the connection between the constants in the state equation and the virial expansion.
