Abstract: A computer calculation is made of the radial component of the force caused by the interaction between the current due to an infinite helical conductor with a uniformly distributed current density and the magnetic field due to that current as a function of the geometric characteristics of the helix. The effect of finite conductor length on the magnitude of the force is evaluated.
