Redefinition of the unit of thermodynamic temperature in the international system of units

Abstract:
Suggestions are analyzed pertaining to the transition to a new definition of the unit of thermodynamic temperature, which is planned by the International Committee on Weights and Measures for 2011, based on fixing the exact value of Boltzmann constant. It is demonstrated that, though it is correct and corresponds to the physical nature of the concept of “temperature”, this transition is not advisable in view of the present-day level of accuracy and reliability of determination of the value of Boltzmann constant.
