Nonstationary modes in a Faraday MHD generator containing a two-phase working body

Abstract:
A method has been developed for deriving the nonstationary characteristics for a Faraday MHD channel on the basis of a turbulent two-phase flow, where one can derive the wall temperature and the limiting thermoelastic stresses in the electrode and insulator blocks. The startup conditions are considered for a plant of Pamir type working into a resistive-inductive load. The calculated parameters agree well with measurements on full-scale MHD models.
