Heat and Mass Transfer and Physical Gasdynamics

Two-phase flows at supersonic velocities

O. A. Povarov, V. A. Filippenko

Moscow Power Engineering Institute
Abstract: The interaction of a shock wave with a two-phase vapor flow is discussed. Data is presented from measurement of the disperse composition of moist vapor behind the shock wave for different flow velocities. An analysis is made of the reduction in the erosive wear of specimens placed in a supersonic flow of moist vapor due to fragmentation of the liquid particles in a shock wave.
