Measurement of the diffusivity of tungsten by the method of periodic impulsive heating
M. M. Yakunkin MIEM
Abstract:
This article discusses a method for measuring the diffusivity of solids with the use of a laser operated in the periodic impulsive regime. A thin plate is heated by periodic radiation from a laser with a pulse duration $\simeq 1\mu$sec and a pulse repetition frequency of $10$–$100$ kHz. The form of temperature pulsations occurring during the heating stage is then recorded. Results are presented from measurement of the diffusivity of tungsten in the temperature interval $1500$–$3000$ K.
