Heat and Mass Transfer and Physical Gasdynamics
Characteristic times of phase interaction processes and their effect on dispersion and absorption of sound waves in vapor–gas–drop systems

Abstract:
Characteristic times of interphase interaction processes are investigated in systems of the gas-particle type, single-component mixtures of a vapor with drops, and two-component vapor–gas–drop mixtures. It is shown that, unlike suspensions without phase transitions, single-component vapor–drop suspensions and two-component vapor–gas–drop suspensions have not two, but three internal characteristic times of matching phase parameters. Besides the characteristic time of interphase momentum exchange, typical of all suspensions, there exist two independent characteristic times of interphase heat and mass transfer. They depend on the drop mass content in the system and on its other thermophysical parameters, particularly on the vapor concentration in the gasformation phase and on the specific heat of vapor formation. We treat the effects of these times, as well as the distinctions between them, on the features of dispersion and absorption of sound waves in real two-component and two-phase gas mixtures with vapor and drops.
