Abstract: An experimental study of the peculiarities of atomization of liquids with different physical properties has been carried out. We used hydraulic, pneumatic, and centrifugal-pneumatic methods. The experiments allowed us to justify the assumption of a vortex mechanism of decomposition of liquid films into droplets due to loss of their own stability. It has been shown that, under hydrodynamic and centrifugal-pneumatic spraying, the major influence on the dispersity of aerosols is played by viscosity and surface tension, respectively. In pneumatic spraying, dispersity is mainly determined by the flow of air.
