Plasma Investigations

Investigation of the possibility of formation of a conducting channel in the Earth atmosphere

E. L. Stupitsky

Central Institute of Physics and Technology, Moscow
Abstract: Results are given of qualitative analysis of the possibility of developing an extended conducting channel in the Earth atmosphere with the aid of a directed photon beam. Assessment is made of the effect of various impurities on the possibility of attaining in this channel a minimal electron concentration required for the passage of current of preassigned magnitude.
