Modeling of heat and mass transfer in porous media at phase transitions initiated by microwave heating

Abstract: A model of the three-dimensional "condensed phase $\to$ gas" phase transition in a porous medium upon heating by microwave electromagnetic radiation is proposed. It is shown on the basis of the model theoretical analysis that the distributions of condensed phase saturation and radiation intensity are in the form of quasi-stationary waves and the pressure distribution is determined by the criterion parameter, which is the ratio of two characteristic mass flow rates of the gas due to the phase transition and filtration. It is found on the basis of numerical implementation of the model that there are three regions in the porous medium in the general case: a region of condensed phase heating, a region of phase transition, and a region of gas phase heating.
