Equation of state for cesium halide melts
A. G. Davydov, N. K. Tkachev Institute of High-Temperature Electrochemistry, RAS
Abstract:
The thermodynamic perturbation theory based on a model of a multicomponent mixture of charged hard spheres is used to propose the equation of state for alkali halide melts that takes into account the polarizability of ions. The example of molten cesium halides near melting points is used to analyze changes in density and individual contributions to pressure. It is demonstrated that the equation of state describes the density of these melts with good accuracy using tabulated values of the Fumi–Tosi ionic radii and Pauling polarizabilities.
