Abstract:
The article proposes a scheme for producing hydrogen by hydrothermal oxidation of aluminum combined with a technology for recovering the heat of the aluminum oxidation reaction in metal hydride cycles. Metal hydride cycles are used to compress hydrogen to a pressure of $90$ MPa and generate electricity. The energy and material balances of the processes are calculated by thermodynamic modeling. Calculations have shown that hydrothermal oxidation of aluminum combined with metal hydride recovery cycles can increase energy carrier efficiency by $14\%$.
