Abstract:
The paper presents the results of numerical simulation of the combustion of a hydrogen–air mixture in a supersonic flow in a model channel of the configuration studied in the HyShot project. The Favre-averaged system of Navier–Stokes equations is solved, supplemented by various models of turbulence, models of the interaction of turbulence with combustion, as well of chemical-kinetic mechanisms. The results of calculations using different models with experimental data are compared, and deviations of the calculated and experimental values of static pressure along the length of the model are determined. The influence of the fuel supply angle on the flow characteristics were studied, and the boundaries of thermal choking were determined depending on this factor. The effect of the initial level of flow turbulence on the flow structure is studied.
