Abstract: The article studies the electrostatic field from a point charge inside or outside a plane-layered medium (a fundamental solution to the problem of electrostatics for plane-layered media). For arbitrary plane-layered media, a solution to the problem is obtained in the form of a one-dimensional integral. Based on the analogy between electrostatics and heat conductunce, the application of the obtained electrostatic solutions to heat conductunce problems is considered.
