Abstract:
Experimental data on the heat of fusion of $12$ metals and their electrical resistance at the melting point (previously obtained) are presented, with emphasis on the results for $\rm Ta$ and $\rm W$. A comparison is made with the calculated works for $\rm W$. The results of a new experiment with the rapid heating of foils of these metals by current are considered in order to study the liquid state up to the maximum possible temperatures. During the heating time of the foils $(5~\mu$s$)$ immersed in water, the specific heat $C_P$ and electrical resistance $R$ (related
to the original dimensions of the sample) are measured. Dependences of $C_P$ and $R$ on temperature are constructed from $2000$ to $\sim7000$ K.
