Acoustic waves in viscoelastic bubbly media

Abstract: The propagation of acoustic waves in a viscoelastic bubbly medium has been theoretically studied. A linearized system of differential equations for perturbed motion in such medium is presented; the dispersion relation is deduced. As an example of a viscoelastic bubbly medium, we have calculated the frequency dependences of the phase velocity and attenuation coefficient in polydimethylsiloxane with embedded polydisperse air bubbles and compared the results with the known experimental data.
