Abstract:
In this paper, we propose a simple method for assigning importance weights to indi-viduals of a population to determine the association between single nucleotide polymorphisms and quantitative traits in the genome-wide association study. At the first step, pairs of individuals in population are compared in terms of distances between phenotypes and genotypes. At the second step, pairwise comparison matrices of individuals are constructed, and the weights of individuals are computed with respect to additive and multiplicative scales. It is shown how to modify the Lasso method using the weights. Numerical experiments with real data illustrate the proposed method.
