Lexicon Formalization for a Computer System of Sign Language Synthesis

Abstract:
In this paper, we give an analytical survey of peculiarities of the Russian sign language and calc signed (gesture) speech, including state-of-the-art of sign lexicons and gram-matical constructions, as well as methods for formalization of sign lexicon items. In the course of the multidisciplinary research, a virtual 3D model of human being’s avatar has been adopted for the Russian sign language synthesis, and a multipurpose model of multimodal audio-visual synthesizer aimed for text to Russian auditory speech and calc signed speech transformation.
