Effective Hamiltonian method and spectrum of a two-electron atom

Abstract: Spectrum of the Rydberg series of helium atom and helium-like ions with one-electron excited much stronger than the other is calculated up to the quadrupoleaccuracy. The method used is based on an explicit construction of the effective Hamiltonian by means of unitary transformations.
