The method of collective variables and the generalized Hamiltonian formalism

N. N. Bogoliubov's transformations leading to the Lagrangian with constraints are considered in the framework of the generalised Hamiltonian theory due to Dirac. An expression for the $S$-matrix is derived using the path integrals over the phase space.
