Investigation of electron densities of states of superconducting transition metals with nonmagnetic impurity

Abstract: The densities of electron states of superconducting transition metals with nonmagnetic impurity are calculated in the whole range of frequencies in the limiting cases α21, α11 and α11, α21 for ζ=Γ1/Γ2<1. Under these assumptions concerning the parameters αn and ζ, expressions are obtained for the energy gap ωg and a detailed investigation is made of the densities of electron states nn(ω) of both bands as functions of the frequency and impurity concentration. It is shown that the density of states n1(ω) in the case α21, α11 has two maxima of the same order, one near ωg and the other near Γ2. The density of states n2(ω) has a maximum that is an order of magnitude greater than that of n1(ω) in the neighborhood of Γ2. In the case of a high impurity concentration (α11, α21) the energy gap comes close to the order parameter Γ2. It is assumed here that ζ=Γ1/Γ2<1. The maxima of the densities of electron states of both bands, nn(ω), are obtained at frequencies near the parameter Γ2.
