On the joint influence of an electron and a radiation field on a molecule
O. V. Kudrevatova
Abstract:
The collision of an electron with a molecule in a radiation field is studied. The problem is
solved by a method previously proposed by Butylkin and Kudrevatova [1], which enables
one to take into account effects of multiphoton transitions in the first of the successive approximations. Expressions are obtained that characterize the difference between the process
of ionization of a molecule in the case ofquasifixed nuclei from excitation of the molecule
up to the ionization limit. Equations are found for the vibrational wave function and
also equations that describe the influence of the vibrational motion of the molecule on its
ionization process. It is shown that the joint influence of electron impact and a radiation
field on the molecule is manifested in the electron motion more strongly in the ionization
of the molecule while in the vibrational motion it is manifested more strongly in excitation
(compared with the action of radiation alone).
