Typical Occurrence of Self-oscillations in an Ocean Circulation Box Model with Turbulent Fluxes

Abstract: For a model of temperature–salinity ocean circulation whose dynamics is governed by a two-dimensional system of ordinary differential equations with a discontinuous transfer function depending on parameters, we describe generic bifurcations of birth of several self-oscillating modes when the parameters of the transfer function vary; we also find the corresponding bifurcation diagrams in the parameter space.
