Coulomb–Nuclear Interference: The Latest Modification
Vladimir A. Petrov A. A. Logunov Institute for High Energy Physics, NRC “Kurchatov Institute,” pl. Nauki 1, Protvino, 142281 Russia
Abstract:
A new, mathematically correct, method is proposed for taking into account Coulomb–nuclear interference in the differential cross section for elastic $pp$ scattering without introducing intermediate IR regularization (“photon mass”). This method potentially leads to other (compared with the formula used in the literature) values of the conceptually important parameter $\operatorname {Re}T_{\mathrm N}(s,0)/\operatorname {Im}T_{\mathrm N}(s,0)$.
