Abstract: The problem of the formation of materials with given radiation characteristics is considered on the example of the formation of a mixture that has the X-radiation attenuation and scattering coefficients close or equal to those of an a priori given material on a predetermined energy band. The posed optimization problem is reduced to solving a system of linear equations under some conditions. A geometric interpretation of the problem and its solution are given.
