Kinetic theory in modern aerohydrodynamics
V. Ya. Rudyak Novosibirsk State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering
Abstract:
We present a survey of the current state of kinetic theory. We consider the kinetic theory of rarefied and dense gases, gases with internal degrees of freedom and chemical reactions, and a method for the direct statistical modeling of a rarefied gas and its connection with solutions of the Boltzmann equation. Modern problems are prominently featured: the construction of a kinetic theory of gas mixtures, and fluctuational hydrodynamics. We discuss the relationship between irreversibility in the Hamiltonian description of a many-particle system and the actually observable irreversibility of macroscopic systems.
