Abstract: We describe Lie–Rinehart algebras in the tensor category $\mathcal{LM}$ of linear maps in the sense of Loday and Pirashvili and construct a functor from Lie–Rinehart algebras in $\mathcal{LM}$ to Leibniz algebroids.
