Abstract: The results of studies on the emulsion polymerisation of monomers of different chemical nature in the absence of an emulsifying agent are analysed and treated systematically. When the physicochemical properties of the latexes are considered, attention is concentrated on factors influencing their stability, especially in concentrated systems. Problems concerning film formation and the specific properties of films, which are important in the technology of the manufacture of glues and adhesives, are also touched upon. The bibliography includes 131 references.
