Abstract:
The reactions catalysed by metal complexes with synthetic macrocyclic ligands and, in particular, the hydrolysis reactions of esters, peptides, and other substrates are examined. Many macrocyclic coordination compounds of transition metals are active catalysts of reactions occurring at electrodes (electrocatalysis). The catalysis by macrocyclic transition metal compounds of reactions involving the oxidation of various organic substances by molecular oxygen and other oxidants, in particular, the oxygen compounds of the halogens, is described. Examples of photocatalysis with participation of macrocyclic transition metal complexes as catalysts are presented. Certain features of the electronic structure of transition metal complexes with macrocyclic ligands are considered and routes leading to further development of catalysis using such compounds are outlined. The bibliography includes 90 references.
