Expert evaluation of kinetic data for use in research on atmospheric modelling

The development of data banks on chemical kinetics and photochemistry for use in modelling the atmosphere is examined. A table representing a compilation of data on the chemistry of the formation of stratospheric ozone in which the reactions are grouped into families (O_x, HO_x, NO_x, ClO_x, and organic reactions) is published. An approach to the selection of the recommended values of kinetic and photochemical quantities, developed by CODATA/IUPAC experts, is described in detail. The review is completed by a brief discussion of the immediate prospects for the development of expert evaluations of data for atmospheric chemistry.
