Abstract: Methods of synthesis of (het)aroylpyruvic acids and their acyclic derivatives (esters, amides and hydrazides), and their reactions with various C-, N-, O-, S-nucleophiles are described. Problems of tautomerism and biological activity of (het)aroylpyruvates and products of their transformation are briefly considered. The bibliography includes 191 references.
