Abstract: The key trends in the modern chemistry of alkali and transition metal phospholides (phosphacyclopentadienides) are described systematically, analyzed and generalized. The main synthetic routes to compounds of this class are presented. Their chemical properties are considered, primary attention being paid to complex formation. Potential application areas of phospholides and their derivatives are noted.
