Abstract:
The key prerequisites for the accelerated development of silicone chemistry in the context of significance of organosilicon polymers for sustainable future are considered. The principal trends formed in this area during the last 20 years are analyzed and the quantum leap that occurred in the control of the structure and selective synthesis of macromolecules is noted. The problems of silicone research are defined and the most promising approaches to solution of these problems aimed at more active involvement of such systems into various spheres of practical activity are demonstrated.
