Abstract: The results of investigations carried out in the past 15–20 years in the chemistry of radioactive iodine in the gas phase and in aqueous media of various compositions are described systematically and analyzed. The prospects for practical application of the obtained data in various fields of nuclear power industry including accidents at nuclear power plants and enterprises engaged in spent nuclear fuel reprocessing are estimated. The bibliography includes 206 references.
