Abstract: The reaction involving the vicarious nucleophilic substitution of hydrogen in aromatic nitro-compounds and certain electrophilic heterocycles is discussed. The applications of the reaction, its limitations, the problems concerning its mechanism and mode, as well as the possibilities of the practical application of this new method in organic synthesis are examined.
The bibliography includes 101 references.
