Abstract: The literature data on the synthesis and properties of salts with pentacoordinate fluorosilicate anions have been classified and correlated. The geometric structural features of the pentafluorosilicate anion and its substituted derivatives are analysed, taking into account the hypervalent nature of the bonding in silicon(IV) complexes.
The bibliography includes 94 references.
