Catalytic conversion of paraffinic hydrocarbons into isoparaffins and olefins

The catalytic isomerisation, disproportionation, and dehydrogenation reactions of the C₄–C₁₂ , C₄–C₈ , and C₃–C₁₈ hydrocarbons respectively are examined. The chemical composition, the methods of preparation of the catalysts, the effect of promoting agents, and the kinetics and mechanisms of the reactions are discussed. The principal characteristics of the existing and likely future processes leading to the synthesis of C₄–C₁₂ isoparaffins and C₃–C₁₈ mono-olefins are presented.
