New Trends in the Development of Polymeric Materials for Reverse Osmosis Membranes
Yu. È. Kirsh, Yu. M. Popkov Karpov Institute of Physical Chemistry, Moscow
Abstract:
Synthetic polymeric materials used for the preparation of asymmetric and composite membranes are examined. The reactions leading to the synthesis of these polymers and ways of obtaining a thin barrier layer which determines the principal quality parameters of the membranes are described. Attention is specially concentrated on the interfacial polycondensation reaction between acid chlorides and amines in order to create a barrier layer with a high selectivity and permeability. The bibliography includes 32 references.
