Abstract: The results of studies of the structure and complex-forming power of organic compounds of selenium have been summarised. The principal characteristics of the geometry of the molecules and their orbital state and electron-donor properties have been discussed. Quantitative estimates of the complex-forming power of selenium compounds have been given. The questions of the generation of selenium-centred free radicals and their stabilisation by complex formation have been examined.
