Abstract: The literature data on the method of synthesis, structures, and chemical properties of compounds containing geminal sulphonyl groups are surveyed and described systematically. The available information about the thermodynamic and kinetic acidities of the compounds and the stability and reactivity of the carbanions stabilised by two (and more) sulphonyl groups is discussed.
The bibliography includes 222 references.
