Abstract: Structural investigations of two types of chemical reactions occurring in organic crystals on heating and irradiation are examined, namely intermolecular rearrangements (including the rearrangement of molecules via the transfer of individual atoms and groups of atoms, isomerisation, stereo-isomerisation, etc.) and reactions with elimination of small molecules (N2, CO2, H2O, HHal). Solid-phase processes are discussed in terms of topochemical reactions and reactions in non-crystalline (amorphous) regions.
