Abstract: The principal features of the phosphorylation of nucleosides and other alcohols by phosphoric acid monoesters and diesters in the presence of the most widely used condensing agents (arenesulphonyl chlorides, arenesulphonyl azolides, carbodiimides, mixtures of arenesulphonyl chlorides with azoles and pyridines) are described. Data concerning the intermediate compounds and intermediate reactions in the oligonucleotides synthesis as well as model processes, obtained mainly with the aid of 31P NMR, are discussed.
