Abstract: The synthetic routes to Group 4–9 transition metal imido complexes are considered. Both common and less common approaches are analysed. The classification of the methods for the synthesis of imido complexes is based on the way of formation of the imido ligand, the change in the metal oxidation state during imidation and the type of imidation reagent.
