Abstract: Data on the kinetics and mechanism of the heterolysis of t-BuX (X = Cl, Br, I) in the gas phase and in individual solvents are surveyed. The mechanism of the unimolecular heterolysis of t-BuX and the role of the solvent in this process are discussed.
The bibliography includes 192 references.
