Abstract: The general and theoretical aspects of the problem of hyperconjugation are examined. The factors determining the magnitude of the effect and its major role in organoelemental compounds compared with organic compounds are discussed. Various types of hyperconjugation (σ,π-, σ,σ-, and σ,p-conjugation) in the ground electronic state of organoelemental compounds of Group IV elements are considered.
