Problems of Non-isothermal Character in Polymerisation Processes

Abstract:
The results of the study of the radical polymerisation of vinyl monomers taking place under non-isothermal conditions, namely under purely adiabatic conditions, with transfer of heat to the surrounding medium, under the conditions of propagation of the polymer front, and the influence of hydrodynamics on the kinetics of polymerisation, have been reviewed. Various data on the ionic polymerisation of lactams, where the spontaneous heat production in the reaction is determined not only by the chemical source of heat release but also by the crystallisation of the resulting polymer, have been analysed. The results of the study of the condensation of epoxide compounds under the influence of amines under adiabatic conditions and under conditions of propagation of the polymer front have been discussed briefly. The bibliography contains 94 references.
