Abstract: The review describes various reactions involving the cleavage of benzhydrylated compounds and their rearrangements and also the use of the benzhydryl group as a protective group. The lability of the bonds between the benzhydryl group and oxygen, sulphur, nitrogen, carbon, and other atoms is demonstrated.
The bibliography includes 484 references.
