Abstract:
The review is devoted to studies constituting the scientific basis of the search for and selection of highly effective organophosphorus stabilisers of polymeric materials. The physical chemistry of the potential organophosphorus stabilisers and the stabilisers used in practice are examined from this standpoint. The mechanisms of the inhibiting effect of organic phosphites in various compositions are discussed and the relative contributions of the mechanisms considered to the overall inhibiting activity are estimated. The dependence of the reactivity of phosphites on their structure is examined and the quantitative characteristics of the main reactions of phosphites are discussed. The results obtained make it possible to predict the effectiveness of phosphites with different structures as inhibitors of the chain autoxidation and degradation reactions of polymers. The bibliography includes 100 references.
