Transport Processes in Electrically Conducting Dispersely Filled Polymeric Composites
V. G. Shevchenko, A. T. Ponomarenko Institute of Chemical Physics of the USSR Academy of Sciences, Moscow
Abstract:
The mechanisms of electrical conduction in polymeric composites with electrically conducting fillers are examined on the basis of effective medium, fluctuation tunnelling, and percolation models. The properties of the conducting fillers – metals, graphite, and technical carbon – are analysed. Factors influencing the electrical conductivity of the composites, in particular the methods of preparation of the filler and of the material, are discussed. The prospects for the utilisation of composites of this type are indicated. The bibliography includes 62 references.
