Abstract: The synthesis and properties of 2-oxazolidinones and polymers containing 2-oxazolidinone rings are examined. Attention is concentrated on studies devoted to reactions in which the initial monomers are readily available substances produced on a large scale – epoxides and isocyanates. The mechanisms of the formation reactions of oxazolidinones, the catalytic systems employed, and the possible side processes are discussed. The properties and applications of polymers with 2-oxazolidinone rings in the chain are described.
The bibliography includes 218 references.
